What does “not scheduled” mean in practice?
Ibogaine is commonly described as not federally scheduled in Mexico. That description may help explain why treatment is discussed there, but it is not a personal legal conclusion and it does not settle questions about a particular facility, jurisdiction, product, or traveler. For a starting point on Mexico’s federal health-law framework, see the official text of the Ley General de Salud.
Rules, enforcement practices, and interpretation can change. A person weighing an ibogaine treatment clinic in Mexico should treat broad legal descriptions as background only, then seek qualified Mexican legal advice for facts that matter to their own plans. The general history of ibogaine is also not a substitute for current legal or medical guidance.
Keep the question narrow
“Is it scheduled?” is different from “May I import it, carry it, receive it, or return with it?” Each question can involve a different rule, authority, or country.
